Overview
Worldwise: The
Wisdom App
Worldwise: The Wisdom App is a mindfulness and learning experience that brings daily quotes, ideas, and
cultural wisdom from around the world, all in one beautifully designed space.
The goal was to create an app that feels calm, thoughtful, and globally inclusive, helping users discover,
learn, and grow through timeless wisdom.
Design Challenge
The challenge was to design a product that:
- Feels human and emotionally intelligent — not just another quote app.
- Encourages daily engagement without overwhelming the user.
- Balances minimalism and cultural diversity in the visual language.
- Scales gracefully for multilingual and cross-cultural content.
Target Audience
This app is designed for individuals seeking daily inspiration, mindfulness, and cultural insight, people who
value reflection and personal growth in a fast-paced world.
My Role
As the product designer for Worldwise, I was responsible for shaping the entire user experience and visual
language:
- Core Experience: Designing the main flows for daily quotes and
cultural discovery.
- Design System: Defining typography, color palette, iconography, and
motion for a cohesive interface.
- Dark Themed UI: Crafting visually appealing dark-themed designs
optimized for readability.
- Widgets & Micro-Interactions: Designing subtle interactions and
widgets that encourage daily engagement.
- Collaboration: Working closely with developers to refine animations,
layouts, and accessibility
compliance.
Design Process
We explored how users interact with reflective and motivational apps (e.g., Headspace, Stoic, Insight Timer)
and found that users seek meaning, not just motivation — wisdom with
cultural depth and a calm, focused
experience.
I designed Worldwise around a simple, personalized, and culturally diverse experience:
- Culture Selection: Users choose one or more cultures from a large
list, and the app surfaces quotes relevant to their selection.
- Quote Interaction: Users can swipe through quotes on the home page,
save quotes they like, or hide ones they don’t want to see. Each quote includes its reference for context.
- Sharing: Users can easily share quotes on social media while keeping
author attribution intact.
- Prototyping & Testing: I created Figma prototypes to validate flows
for onboarding, culture selection, browsing, saving/hiding, viewing references, and sharing. Feedback
ensured the experience is intuitive and engaging.
- Accessibility & Scalability: Layouts were optimized to handle long
quotes, and interactions meet accessibility standards for tap targets and readability.
Key Features Designed
- Frequently Updating Widgets: Seamlessly blends into users’ daily
routine.
- Culture-Based Discovery: Learn the origin, author, and philosophy
behind each quote.
- Personal Library: Save and revisit your favorite quotes.
- Minimal Animations: Subtle transitions to maintain focus on content.
Conclusion & Developer Handoff
The first version of Worldwise brought to life a calm, culturally rich experience that helps people slow down
and reflect each day. For this release, I designed the mobile and tablet UIs, created responsive layouts, and
worked on App Store visuals, branding logos, and marketing content to ensure everything felt cohesive and true
to the app’s purpose.
Throughout the process, I collaborated closely with developers to refine details and make sure every
interaction felt smooth and intentional. As the app grows, I’ll continue supporting future updates, improving
usability and discoverability, and listening to user feedback to shape new features that make the experience
even more meaningful.
Designing Worldwise reminded me that digital products can feel human when they’re created with empathy and
restraint.

This app
contains many lifetimes of wisdom and food for thought. I love the ancient texts and the
proverbs from so many cultures. It’s also very well designed, easy on eyes and nice to read at night as
well in the daytime. The widget is awesome and provides something to think about as I go about my day.
Highly recommend, excited to see new culture and content!

A Fresh Look at the Ages

A unique
and positive start to my day, relaxed, before the news. Words from cultures around the world
over time come to life again in my space. Often I am surprised to learn who and when and from where the
quotations come. I am pleased with the app. It’s easy to use and settings allow interesting category
choices.
